Wood and Bright 1992 Catalog in Digital Format
About This Version.>>
Wood and Bright's 1992 catalog was scanned and is posted at the Biodiversity Heritage Library. This is a great resource but the large PDF or DjVu document is not easy to use. Either version is a large file which is slow to download. Page numbers in these files do not match page numbers in the source document. Scrolling and navigation can be very slow.
This modified version has been developed specially to view online. There is little delay in downloading because only a single page is downloaded at a time. The Table of Contents to the left of the screen has been created specifically for fast linking to individual pages. The order of topics, higher taxa, genera and species is taken directly from the Catalog without modification. Clicking on any title or subtitle that is underlined will expand the category (or condense it if already expanded). Clicking on the book icon will link directly to the page of interest.
Since 1992 there have been numerous changes due to introduction of new exotic species, description of new species, and nomenclatorial changes. Most are not reflected here. On the other hand, most changes in nomenclature at the genus and tribal level are indicated by pink lettering. If the mouse is hovered over any pink text a brief explanatory note will appear. Because of the large number of species included, only genera are shown in the contents. You can also go directly to a specific page by entering a numnber in the text boxes above or below the page. This is especially useful if you want to use the indices to look up a particular taxon.
